Condo living is almost synonymous with small spaces, but it’s not true anymore. Developers have redefined what it means to live in a condominium by introducing various kinds of units that cater to different budgets, lifestyles, household size, space, among other requirements.

There are now condos that can be as big as a full-sized family house that most Pinoys grew up in. Some even have their own private lanais and gardens, where they can fulfill their plantito or plantita journeys.

Studio Type

When you think of condominiums, studio units are usually what you would think of. They have very limited space, perfect for single or starting couples. It has all the basic amenities like a kitchen, bathroom, and toilet, but there’s usually no designated space for a bedroom or a living room. It has an open design and it’s up to the owners how to tweak them.

Some condos include balconies even in their studio units. However, it’s not uncommon for them not to have one at all. The very limited space means it’s also the most affordable condo unit available in the Philippines.

1-3 Bedroom Units

For starting families and small households, a studio type may be too small for your living space. Depending on your needs and budget, there are 1-3 bedroom options commonly sold by developers in the Philippines. These condominium units also include a bathroom, a small utility or storage room, a narrow pathway leading to the bedrooms.

Some developers can even be more generous by providing balconies for each bedroom. This allows for extra space where you can store your items, hang your laundry, grow your plants, or simply serve as your breakfast nook in the mornings.

Loft

A loft-type condominium is not as common in the Philippines, especially as it requires high ceilings units. It’s essentially a studio-type condominium unit with an elevated floor area, connected with stairs. This is a perfect place to keep your bedroom private from the rest of the home. At the same time, this gives you extra space for your living space underneath.

This condominium type is well suited for young professionals, starting families, and even single people. On the other hand, it may be difficult for those living with toddlers, senior citizens, and people with disabilities as the stairs can be steep.

Penthouse

The most expensive but also the most lavish condominium unit type in the Philippines is a penthouse. This usually occupies the top floor of your building. With some developers, there are even separate elevators just for the penthouse. This is perfect for those who want a private and more exclusive living as you essentially own everything on the floor.

Penthouses can be multi-level or split level, offering you plenty of real estate to work with. It’s not uncommon to see units with private pools, gardens, lanais, and other amenities. They can get as big and even bigger than some traditional houses, and the best part is the city views!
