Wood, cement, or tile are the most common finishes in Filipino homes. Tile floors may appear to be long-lasting and simple to maintain. It looks nice when it looks squeaky clean and fresh, but grime and grit can be a problem.

It can scratch the surface if not removed. Your tile floors may sustain irreparable harm if you do not clean them. Likewise, unwashed tiles can make a clean space appear dirty, especially when grout darkens with time as it collects dirt.

To help you out, here are simple ways to clean your ceramic tiles.

  • Use a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove loose dirt, sand, and other debris
  • Scrape off any sticky buildup on the tiles with a plastic putty knife or an old credit card
  • Add boiling water, 1/2 cup vinegar, and 1/2 tablespoon dish soap to a bucket. Avoid using too much soap since the soapy residue may diminish the appearance of your floors
  • To get rid of any debris from the last time you used the mop, rinse it under hot running water before you start mopping
  • Use soapy water to mop the tile floors
  • Then use plain hot water to clean off any remaining soap
  • You can let the floor dry naturally, but using a clean cloth or towel will get rid of even more filth and stop water stains

Only the grout holding your ceramic tile together will determine how attractive your flooring will be. Below are tips and tricks that can come in handy.

  • Fill a bucket halfway with water and add the powdered oxygen bleach according per the package guidelines. This powerful bleach has a different chemical component than chlorine bleach and is non-toxic and color-safe. It’s commonly found in the cleaning section of any grocery or hardware store.
  • Using a spray bottle or a scrub brush, apply your solution to the grout lines. We like to utilize both ways of treatment for extremely unclean grout.
  • Allow at least 30 minutes for the solution to rest on the grout. The more time you wait, the better. The bleach solution’s oxygen ions continue to function for up to six hours.
  • After the bleach solution has been applied, scrape the grout lines with a stiff nylon brush or an old toothbrush. Scrub a tiny section of grout at a time, wiping up any dirty water as you go.
  • After cleaning all of the grout lines, rinse the area with clean water and dry it with a clean cloth.
  • When you’re done and the floor is dry, apply a grout sealant to keep the grout clean.
  • You can replace the oxygen bleach with a solution of white vinegar and either lemon juice or baking soda, both of which you probably already have on hand. However, we have found that the bleach solution requires the least amount of scrubbing and is the most successful at removing stains.
